artEquity at Oregon Shakespeare Festival

"The task of the artist is determined always by the status and process and agenda of the community it already serves. The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible." - Toni Cade Bambara

artEquity's 2015 cohort represents a diverse cross-section of the American theater and broader arts community. The 41 participants come from all parts of the US representing over 30 arts organizations. Artistic Directors, Managing Directors, Playwrights, Scenic Artists, Education Associates, Human Resources Managers, Board Members, Freelance artists, Dramaturgs, and many more, will come together for a meaningful learning exchange and deep-dive theater experience to support movement-building in the arts.

artEquity is hosted by Oregon Shakespeare Festival and directed and founded by Carmen Morgan, a national consultant to theatres on inclusion and equity issues. She is joined by a diverse team of co-facilitators: Ty Defoe (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Fellow for Theatre Communications Group); Lydia G. Garcia (Resident Dramaturg at OSF); Leslie Ishii (Stage Director and Arts Educator); and Michael Robertson (Managing Director of The Lark).
